ENTRY #4

Location:

Above Central Market in Central HK

Background:

"We're graduate students of HK Baptist University volunteering for the Basic Law Gallery developed by the HK Design Institute. We were both born in Hong Kong, and participated in the Occupy Central movement."

Opinion:

Boy: “The mainland Chinese visitors are normal: everyone travels."

Girl: "They don’t use the rubbish bins a lot.”

Boy: “I don’t think it’s a problem that can be solved easily because it’s about changing the culture.”

How was your experience participating in the Occupy Central movement?

Boy: “It was… hot.”

Why did you participate?

Girl: “I wanted to know find out more about it in person because I didn’t have a very clear idea of the issue.”

Do you have a better idea now?

Girl: “No, not really.”

Overall opinion of the movement?

Boy: “The movement was a little too much, to be honest. But the students just wanted an outlet to speak out… It’s good that they want their voices to be heard but maybe their approach could have been better.”

Girl: “They’re doing the right thing, but they're approaching it the wrong way.”
