ENTRY #8
Location:
Pottinger Street, Central HK.
Background:
"I was born and raised in Hong Kong and I've lived here all my life. Welcome to my shop. You can find a lot of miscellaneous items here. My personal favorites are the hairties."
Opinion:
"There's a huge culture difference between Hong Kong and China. This stems from the fact that Hong Kong is under completely different policies. I think that even though it's been 18 years since Hong Kong left Britain, many people still want to be governed by the UK.”
"I think the problem fundamentally lies in the different standards of education. English is better in Hong Kong than in mainland China. China needs to catch up to HK’s education standards to improve."
“I don't think mainland Chinese should send their children to Hong Kong for education because the commute is a massive waste of time. Instead, the Chinese government should work on improving education in China."
“Something else that bothers me about the mainland Chinese is that they never queue up at bus stops. They always cut the line. In China it might be okay, but in Hong Kong it’s not.”
“They’re also very loud in libraries, disrupting people who actually go there for the books. At times it almost seems like they’re doing it on purpose.”
“These cultural differences need to be resolved”
